How TikTok determines your country or region
When you sign up for a TikTok account, we'll collect information about your location, such as the region of your SIM card or IP address, as indicated in our Privacy Policy. We use this information to determine the country or region set on your account.
How to change your country or region on TikTok
Depending on your location, you may have the following options to change the country or region on your TikTok account. Keep in mind that once you change your country or region, you may not have the option to change it again.
When you sign up for TikTok
In the TikTok app
1. Tap the country or region chosen for your account at the bottom of the signup screen.
2. Select a location and follow the instructions to update your country or region.
On a web browser
1. Tap the country or region chosen for your account at the bottom of the signup screen.
2. Select a location and tap Done to update your country or region.
After you create your TikTok account
In the TikTok app
1. Tap Profile at the bottom.
2. Tap the Menu ☰ button at the top, then select Settings and privacy.
3. Tap Account.
4. Tap User Information.
5. Tap Account region and select the country or region.
On a web browser
1. Go to www.tiktok.com and log in to your account.
2. Click your profile photo at the top.
3. Click Settings.
4. Within Manage account, click Account region and select the country or region.
Requirements for changing your country or region
To change the country or region on your account, you may need to meet the following requirements:
• Have been in the country or region and active on TikTok.
• Meet the minimum age requirement to use TikTok in the new country or region.
• Have settled all rewards collected in the previous country or region, such as payouts from LIVE rewards or subscriptions. We'll remind you to review them when you request to change your region.
• Have the latest version of the TikTok app on your device.
Note: Depending on the country or region you select, some terms and policies may differ from those applicable to your former country or region. To review, select your region at the top of the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy pages. Keep in mind that certain features may not be available in all regions.
